Andy Samberg 'Psyched' To Be Adam Sandler's Son

Trailer for 'That's My Boy,' starring the 'SNL' duo, debuts Thursday on MTV.com.

Peanut butter and jelly, popcorn and movies, baseball and springtime — all winning combinations that never fail to put a smile on your face. On June 15, 2012, you'll be able to add another prized combo to that list: Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.

The two "Saturday Night Live" legends are joining forces for a new Happy Madison comedy called "That's My Boy," hitting theaters this June. In the film, Sandler stars as a down-on-his luck man trying to reconnect with his estranged family on the week of his son's (Samberg) wedding. It's a bizarre setup — after all, Sandler is only 12 years older than Samberg in real life — but, as one would hope, the film offers a reliably ridiculous explanation for the small age gap.

If the basic premise and the involvement of actors Sandler and Samberg don't have you fired up for "That's My Boy," just wait: The first official trailer is set to drop on MTV.com on Thursday, and Samberg himself couldn't be more excited for it.

"I never thought I would actually get to be in a movie with Sandler, certainly not playing his son," Samberg told MTV News ahead of the trailer's release. "For me, I've been such a huge fan of his for so long; I used to listen to 'Billy Madison' on audio cassette in my Walkman. I'm a real-deal Sandler fan. I'd definitely put [this experience] up there with being cast on 'SNL' or any of the other things I've gotten to do — making [Lonely Island] records with my buddies — things I've always dreamed of happening but never thought they would. I'm pretty psyched."

As a self-declared "real-deal Sandler fan," Samberg was far from disappointed when it came to watching the comedy legend do his thing on the "That's My Boy" set.

"Sandler is basically on fire in this movie," he said. "In real life, he's about the sweetest dad I've ever seen. But in the movie, he's a bit of a train wreck. If we were making a documentary, it would be called 'Sweet Loving Dad.' But I think ['That's My Boy'] is going to be a little bit more entertaining and edgy than that."

Stay tuned to MTV News on Thursday for the "That's My Boy" trailer premiere!

'Cosmopolis' Isn't For 'Team Edward Girls,' Jay Baruchel Says

Robert Pattinson's co-star describes the David Cronenberg film to MTV News as 'an exceedingly strange movie.'
By Kevin P. Sullivan

David Cronenberg's next film, "Cosmopolis," may have won MTV's Movie Brawl thanks to the support of die-hard Robert Pattinson fans, but one of his co-stars told MTV News the film will be far from what Twilighters are expecting.

While promoting "Goon," a film he stars in and co-wrote, Jay Baruchel shared his experiences working for a short period of time on the Manhattan set of "Cosmopolis." Unfortunately for the Pattinson fans out there, according to Baruchel, Cronenberg's next movie might be too strange for them.

"An exceedingly strange movie," Baruchel said, describing "Cosmopolis." "All the Team Edward girls won't be seeing this one, I don't think."

For Baruchel, working with Cronenberg — who made a name for himself with horror films — was a dream come true. "Basically, it was that Cronenberg is a hero of mine. I'm a Canadian boy. I love horror. That's all I want to do," Baruchel said. "If you're a Canadian horror fan, Cronenberg's the Holy Grail."

The opportunity for Baruchel came about in a rather mundane way, but his reaction to it was anything but. "I was in Manhattan last year, keeping my lady company, and they called up and were like, 'Hey, do you want to do two days on this new Cronenberg?' I said, 'Yep!' 'Wait, wait. We'll send you the script.' I couldn't care less; what I'm playing is a means to an end. I just want to go and film-nerd-out about 'Videodrome' with him for two days."

The actual experience of working with Cronenberg did not disappoint. "Not only did I get to go and be a fly on the wall for two days and watch one of my heroes do his thing, I actually had the pleasure being directed by him," Baruchel said. "Coolest thing ever."

Check out everything we've got on "Cosmopolis."

Moves to redevelop city eyesore site

BRISTOL'S cabinet councillors have taken another step towards the redevelopment of one of the city's worst eyesores.

They have agreed to start compulsory purchase order proceedings over The Island – the site which includes the derelict George and Railway Hotel and the empty Grosvenor Hotel.

Councillor Anthony Negus said: "This is an excellent way of taking this matter forward – it's going to remove a long-term eyesore from Bristol's skyline."

Mr Negus said the issues over the site were complex and had led to its deterioration during the past 25 years.

One of the major stumbling blocks had been that the site involves three landowners – including the city council. But they had never been able to reach an agreement as to the best way to redevelop the site.

The Liberal Democrat-run Cabinet agreed to go ahead with a CPO as part of a deal with Standard Commercial Property Development which owns the George and Railway Hotel.

Under the arrangement, the developers would pay for the costs of a CPO in exchange for support for its redevelopment scheme.

They were given planning permission two years ago for two six-storey buildings, including restaurants and bars at street level, and 48 parking spaces.

But they have not been able to go ahead because the site is not under single ownership.

The Grosvenor Hotel is owned by Earcloud Limited, while the council owns surrounding land and part of the highway.

Part of the deal would be for the council to sell its interest in the site for £500,000.

Mr Negus told last night's meeting the site was so important because it stood on a gateway to the city and within the city's enterprise zone.

He said: "We see this site as central in helping to bring life and vigour and economic activity back into this part of Bristol."

Councillor Jon Rogers welcomed the move and hoped that a similar kind of CPO arrangement could be used for two other high-profile sites in the city: Westmoreland House and the adjoining Carriageworks in Stokes Croft.

Strategic director Will Godfrey said in his report to councillors that a negotiated settlement had consistently failed over the past 10 or 15 years.

He said until the deadlock could be resolved, any development of the site was unlikely to take place.

The council has two years to execute the CPO if further negotiations once again break down.

Chaotic Moon's Board of Awesomeness gains mind controls, becomes Board of Imagination

Remember the Board of Awesomeness we took for a spin back at CES? Well, the folks from Chaotic Moon went back to the lab to make it even better with a new control system, swapping out the Kinect sensor bar for an Emotiv EPOC headset and re-christened it the Board of Imagination. So, instead of using your hand to control the throttle, you simply visualize and focus on where you want to go, and the headset tells the board how fast to go to get there. The brains of the thing are still housed in a Samsung slate running Windows 8, and it can still shred asphalt at speeds up to 32mph, but now it's a truly mind-blowing experience. Don't believe us? Check out the Board of Imagination in action after the break.
