Father facing charges claims abuse simply did not happen

A FATHER has categorically denied sexually abusing one of his children and physically abusing two others.

The dad told a jury he had never inappropriately touched one of his daughters in front of adult films.

He also said evidence by a younger son and daughter that they were beaten with sticks, not given food or allowed to use the bathroom in their rat-infested south Bristol home simply was not true.

The father, aged in his 50s, denies four indecent assaults and two charges of indecency with a child relating to a daughter from a previous relationship. He and his current wife, who is in her 40s, both deny cruelty to the two younger children.

The Post is not naming the couple to protect the identities of their children.

A jury at Bristol Crown Court has watched a video of an interview the older daughter gave to police in which she said her father would wake her and take her downstairs while her mother was out and put on films with violent or sexual content. She said he would touch her improperly and make her do the same to him.

Earlier the jury heard from the other female complainant, who said she had to live in a rat-infested house where her parents banned her from washing or using the toilet, did not feed her and she was regularly beaten using a plank with nails in it.

The father said sometimes some of his children had come downstairs to watch TV with him at night but he flatly denied sexually abusing his daughter.

He said: "They might have watched a film not of their age, but not inappropriate."

One by one, he was confronted with allegations that he deprived children of food, beat them and had guests at house parties who also beat the children, with bottles. He said none of the alleged cruelty occurred.

The father told the jury: "I don't know why they have made the allegations. I haven't got an answer. I didn't do any of the alleged acts."

The case continues.
