What's the story behind your family treasures?

WHAT if you woke up in the middle of the night to find that your home was on fire, and you only had time to grab one of your possessions before the whole place burned to the ground. What would it be?

You would probably take the item you valued the most in your life - your family treasure.

Last week The Post launched a search to find out more about you and your most treasured belongings.

We have teamed up with Bristol's newest museum, M shed, to run a campaign called Family Treasures.

Together, we are asking you to send us a photo of you with your own family treasure and to tell us the story behind it.

It can be anything - it doesn't matter how old it is or how much it is worth.

Whether it is a piece of inherited jewellery, an old wedding dress or a tatty book which holds a special memory for you and your loved ones, we would like you to tell us about it.

M shed is planning to bury a time capsule which will remain underground for 200 years - containing the stories you tell.

The £27 million museum also wants to run an exhibition centred on your stories.

It is one of 10 attractions across the country being considered for a £100,000 Art Fund prize if it is named "museum of the year" - and if it wins the money it will spend some of it on these two projects.

If you would like to share your story email reporter Emily Koch (e.koch@bepp.co.uk) with a photograph of yourself, with or without your family, holding your family treasure.

If possible, get someone to take the photo of you with it outside your home - to give a sense of the place you live. Include the story behind that object and a contact phone number.

Alternatively send a photo with your story and contact phone number to Emily at the Bristol Evening Post, Temple Way, Bristol BS99 7HD. Photographs will not be returned.

We are not asking you to send us your treasures, merely photos of them. The M shed may use your photograph in future projects and exhibitions, and may contact you in the future.
