Turn to the web for information

EX-councillor Mr Blake's attempt to imply that Filton Labour party have 74,000 items about them following a search on Google, only brings up the umpteen articles that have been written about Labour councillors, I'm afraid, due to their very poor performance in recent years in our town, getting things wrong.

Mr Blake accused the excellent independent party of non-existence and yet, as others have rightfully pointed out, there is no Filton Labour party website or information.

Oh yes, you can find out about the larger party, or South Glos Labour, but nothing about the secretive brotherhood that meet behind closed doors monthly and fail to publish their minutes or membership information.

He failed to answer why the public are not welcome to listen in to meetings unless you are a member. Similar, we are told, to the Freemasons! No wonder so many are disillusioned with us and what we stand for.

I confess they must be embarrassed by their track record and do not blame them for distancing themselves from Filton Labour councillors. I too can find no listing or who to contact for meeting dates or minutes, even as a member.

Why are they not published? Because some amongst us do not want people to read what or who is discussed. It is a secret society in Filton and we must change our approach if we are to gain any respect from our dark days in recent years.

Filton Labour branch members also have a right to know if Conygre House is now saved after handing over a large sum of money of which we have heard nothing.

I WRITE to correct comments written about the existence of a "Filton Labour party". There is absolutely no Filton Labour party, anyone who knows how Google works will tell you if you type in the words "Filton Labour party" the engine will bring up results with those words. The Labour party would not allow a local party, only a small branch. I typed in Filton Independent Party and got 27,000 results! Evidence enough they do exist then! Any suggestion that such a Filton labour party exists, is simply nefarious!
